#QuranHour: Campaign to encourage public to recite, understand Quran continues

SHAH ALAM: The campaign to encourage public to recite and understand Quran verses continues through #QuranHour, which kicks off on June 7 or Ramadan 22.

This year, World #QuranHour is themed Guidance to the Development of Ummah with Virtues through surah Al-Hujurat (Panduan Pembentukan Umat Berakhlak Mulia melalui surah Al Hujurat).

The theme, with emphasis given on the verse was deemed appropriate as the nation just recently faced the 14th General Election (GE14).

Head of researches and module officers at Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas, Fazrul Ismail said with the concluded GE14, there were some quarters who were incriminating and continued to condemn others with different political views.

“This matter needs attention. Al-Hujurat is a surah that explains about virtuos qualities. Overall, it calls us to practise good qualities and refrain from talking about things we have no knowledge of, apart from asking us to refer back to Quran (for guidance).

“It is a short surah, with only 18 verses, but Al-Hujarat is comprehensive in teaching us about good behaviour,” he said when met at Kumpulan Media Karangkraf Sdn Bhd, today.

Fazrul said Al-Hujurat will be recited through Tadabbur and Tazakkur (both are techniques of understanding the content of Quran) after surah Al-Fatihah and would be led by 10 qari.

World #QuranHour is scheduled to be held during the last 10 days of Ramadan from 10am to 1pm at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is expected to grace the event.

The programme will be held simulatenously throughout the state.

“The public is encourage to participate and learn the message conveyed in the surah. Those who intend to go to IIUM in Gombak are also encouraged to their bring copies of Quran with tafsir (translation),” he said.
