Malaysia's first female DPM clocks in for duty

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s first ever female deputy Prime Minister clocked in for work at 10am today.

Dressed in a floral kebaya and white tudung, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail walked out of her car with all smiles as she was greeted by government officials.

Among those who welcomed her included Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa and Women and Family Development Ministry secretary-general Datuk Suriani Ahmad.

A short doa recitation was held after Dr Wan Azizah punched in to report for duty.

Dr Wan Azizah began her first task at Perdana Putra by signing an official document as a symbolic gesture.

The PKR and Pakatan Harapan president is also assuming the Women and Family Development Minister portfolio.

Yesterday, Dr Wan Azizah led a line-up of 13 cabinet ministers in taking their oath of office, loyalty and secrecy before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V at Istana Negara.
