DBKL to scrap repainting project at PPR, PPA; MPs claim no open tender

KUALA LUMPUR: A RM180 million repainting project at the People’s Housing Projects (PPR) and Public Housing Projects (PPA) in the city has been terminated effective Wednesday.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz had said this after the first official meeting with 10 Kuala Lumpur MPs.

Cheras MP, Tan Kok Wai, said this matter was brought up after the MPS have identified that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had awarded the contracts without an open tender.

“The project was approved before the General Election. All the 10 contractors were the same contractors who were appointed to upgrade the City Hall’s office.

“I am asking why they are appointing the same contractors from the previous projects to do another repainting job,” he said.

DBKL Socio-Economic Development executive director, Datuk Ibrahim Yusoff said the contractors will be paid based on the work that they have completed.

“The repainting jobs which are on-going will be completed based on blocks,” he said.

Amin Nordin pointed out that most of the repainting projects have been completed.
