Tommy Thomas reports for duty as new Attorney-General [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: Tommy Thomas clocked in for his first day as Attorney-General (AG) at the Attorney-General’s Chambers at 1.15pm here today.

Clad in a black suit, Thomas arrived with his entourage and was greeted by AGC’s employees.

The 66-year-old is taking over from Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, who is on one-month leave.

Thomas told reporters at the lobby that the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal will be among issues he will focus on as he begins his tenure.

“My first priority is to investigate the 1MDB scandal (as well as) repeal oppressive laws, and study instances of selective prosecution.

“(I will also review) international contracts made by the previous administration under dubious circumstances,” he said.

On 1MDB, Thomas said that civil action will be taken against any wrongdoers on the issue.

“As of now, I cannot reveal anything, as I need to study the investigation paper first.

“However, I can assure you that nobody will be spared,” he added.
