Masjid Al-Falah USJ 9 goes Digital with Homegrown E-Wallet Boost and RHB Islamic

KUALA LUMPUR: Masjid Al-Falah in Subang Jaya's USJ 9 has become the first mosque to start accepting donations digitally, which was made possible under RHB Bank’s Kempen SyuQR.

The latter is an initiative to bring a digital lifestyle to the concept of ‘Giving’ and/or ‘Sadaqah’ – through Boost, a homegrown e-wallet app operated by Axiata Digital.

Boost provides a platform where donations are made via the simple step of scanning the QR code displayed at the mosque. All donations will then be transferred directly to Masjid Al-Falah’s RHB Bank account avoiding the risk of loose cash and theft.

“This is RHB Islamic’s first collaborative effort with Axiata Digital to start digital sadaqah (donation) in conjunction with Ramadhan. RHB Islamic is honoured to be a partner in this effort to reach out to the underprivileged by encouraging Muslims to make digital donations towards Kempen SyuQR,” Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, Datuk Adissadikin Ali said.

Chief Executive Office of Boost Christopher Tiffin said the collaboration with RHB Islamic was to make it easier for users to give back to society.

“Malaysia has 20 million smartphone users and there is plenty of room for growth in embracing the usage of e-wallets. We are confident that this collaboration would serve as a great example to drive a cashless society and many other social institutions will follow suit and adopt the cashless movement with us”, said Tiffin.

Boost and RHB Islamic’s new digital and cashless initiative at Masjid Al-Falah is inline with Bank Negara’s Financial Sector Blueprint and is a contribution towards the country’s goal of becoming a cashless nation by 2050.
