Buses, lorry and excavator destroyed in DBKL storehouse fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Fire razed a store belonging to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) at Jalan 6, Off Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Sungai Besi yesterday, destroying three buses, a lorry and an excavator.

City Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said 17 personnel from the KLCC, Seputeh and Keramat stations rushed to the scene in four engines following a distress call at 4.34pm.

“The team found that the blaze involved the premises where DBKL had stored its condemned materials,” he said when contacted today, adding that there were no fatalities.

In a separate incident yesterday, Khirudin said several rooms in a five-story building which housed an entertainment outlet in Jalan Sungai Besi, were razed in a fire.

He said the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 3.38pm and 15 firefighters from the Hang Tuah and Pudu stations were dispatched.

“Upon arriving at the scene, we found that the fire had spread to the staff lounge and a room used to store liquor.

“The whole of the fifth floor was totally destroyed in the incident,” he said.
