KOTA KINABALU: The Civil Defence Department (APM) has assisted 458 road users across the state throughout Ops Bantu in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

The department’s state director Colonel Kamal Mokthar said APM personnel had responded to 78 emergency cases involving 223 road users within the first phase of the operation and 64 emergencies involving 235 people in the second phase as of 3pm today.

“Throughout Ops Bantu, there were no road accidents involving death. Many have expressed their satisfaction with the role played by APM personnel in assisting road users,” he said when contacted.

Ops Bantu was aimed at assisting those facing vehicle breakdowns, tyre punctures, or accidents.

Kamal said the team would carry out patrols at areas identified as hotspots.

“Our objective is to ensure road users arrive at their destination safely,” he said.
