General Zulkifli is 20th Armed Forces chief

KUALA LUMPUR: General Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin was officially installed as Malaysia’s 20th Armed Forces chief today.

Zulkilfi, 60, replaced General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, who is due for retirement.

The duty-hand-over ceremony was witnessed by Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu at the ministry's Auditorium.

Present were Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Halimi Abd Manaf, Army chief General Tan Sri Zulkiple Kassim, Royal Malaysian Navy chief Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin and Royal Malaysian Air Force chief General Datuk Seri Affendi Buang.

Zulfikli was made Army chief on June 14, 2011 before he was re-designated as the National Defence University’s vice-chancellor.

Affandi was the Army chief from June 15, 2013 to Dec 16, 2016 before he was installed as the 19th Armed Forces chief.
