Country's sovereignty and safety paramount, says Armed Forces chief

KUALA LUMPUR: Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman reminded his men that upholding the country's sovereignty and safety was a priority amid Aidilfitri festivities.

In his address to mark the festivities, Mohammad said protecting the country is a responsibility that they must fulfil.

"Let us pray to God for our men on duty to be given the best of health and kept safe when they are fulfilling their responsibilities for the sake of the nation country.

"The armed forces are united and sovereignty is a collective responsibility," he said.

In extending his Hari Raya wishes to his men and Muslims, Mohammad said the special occasion should be celebrated with gratitude with family, friends, and relatives in peace and harmony.

He advised those returning to their hometowns to always ensure their vehicles are in good condition and to be careful on the road.

He also wished that they would arrive at their destinations safely.

Muslims in the country celebrate Hari Raya today after a month of fasting in Ramadan.
