Flood retention land being developed into luxury condos [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) will be called in to investigate a dubious land development deal here.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said the land deal involved a former mining pond whi was supposed to be reserved for flood retention for Sungai Jinjang.

He claimed the land had been acquired by Umno related companies and then sold to a luxury condominium developer.

“The deal is believed to have involved Umno linked companies which bought it without an open tender process.

“The land was then sold to a developer to build 14,000 luxury condo units,” Lim said, adding he planned to lodge a report with the MACC this Monday.

Meanwhile, Kepong Community Service Center head, Yee Poh Ping said the size of the retention pond had been reduced and this was worrying.

“This will cause huge problems to the community as heavy rain can cause flooding in the area,” he said.
