Amanah's Suhaizan appointed Johor State Assembly Speaker

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Johor vice chairman Suhaizan Kayat was sworn in as the Johor State Assembly Speaker today.

Suhaizan, 42, was the only name proposed by Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian for the post, and the proposal was supported by Johor Islamic Affairs and Education Committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan.

Suhaizan, who holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science, was a former lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information System at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Besides being the Johor Amanah vice chairman, he is also the party’s Organisation Secretary.

Following the swearing-in of Suhaizan, all 56 Johor elected representatives took their oath of office in front of the newly-appointed Speaker.

The assembly then appointed Penggaram assemblyman Gan Peck Cheng as the Deputy Speaker.
