Cats alert Kedah housewife to cobra's presence

PADANG TERAP: A housewife has her cats to thank for alerting her to the presence of a 4-metre long cobra in her house.

The woman was awakened from her sleep by the sound of her cats hissing loudly and she saw the snake after going to check what was going on.

Padang Terap Civil Defence Force Malaysia (APM) chief, Mohd Rizal Ali said the 50-year-old woman found the cobra in her garage and immediately called for help.

He said the 14-kilogramme snake was found hiding in between shoe racks at the parking garage.

"It took us almost 30 minutes to capture the reptile," he said, adding the department had responded to 18 calls for helps following snake incursions into homes this month alone.
