Azmin confirms Seri Setia rep Shaharuddin is ill

SHAH ALAM: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has confirmed that party vice-president Shaharuddin Badaruddin is ill and currently resting at home.

"Let's pray for his speedy recovery. He is currently at home and resting," he said.

Azmin, was met at a barbecue event with PKR candidate for the by-election, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, said the Seri Setia assemblyman has been advised by doctors to stay home after undergoing treatment.

He however did not elaborate on Shaharuddin's illness.

Sin Chew Daily reported last night that the rep was critically ill and has been admitted to intensive care unit. It added that Shaharuddin was suffering from colon cancer.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari when asked last night said he was unsure of Shaharuddin's condition.

"He did however mentioned before that he was unwell." he said.

In the last general elections, Shaharuddin secured the Seri Setia state seat with 29,250 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional candidate Yusoff M Haniff.

Yusoff managed to get 9,878 votes while Pas' candidate, Mohd Ghazali Daud (4,563) and Independent, S Vigneswaran (217).
