Political appointees in FT Ministry given until Sept to resign

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territories Ministry has given political appointees in the ministry and its agencies until the first week of September to tender their resignation.

Its minister Khalid Abd Samad said so far, political appointees that have resigned comprised of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall advisory board members and Federal Territories (FT) Foundation board of directors.

“Eight of City Hall advisory board members have resigned and we will replace them with qualified professionals.

“For the Putrajaya Corporation and Labuan Corporation, those who are supposed to resign have not done so and we urge them to do so.

“All will be asked to resign before the end of this month or the latest by the first week of September,” he told reporters after handing over RM410,000 for 85 cattle from the FT Foundation to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) in conjunction with the Perdana FT Foundation 2018 Qurban programme.

Also present was FT Foundation chief executive officer Zaizalnizam Zainun and Jawi director, Mohd Ajib Ismail.

Khalid said new appointments will be made to ensure that the job will be carried out to the best of the candidates’ capabilities.

“In this respect, I hope party supporters in Pakatan Harapan will understand this because we do not want to continue or follow in the footsteps of Barisan Nasional.

“I hope they will not demand for certain posts as they feel that they have sacrificed a lot and should be given a post.

“The political struggle is to form a government that can deliver on its responsibilities and the trust given to the best of our capabilities,” he said.

Khalid also said the FT Foundation Qurban programme would not be held with FT Umno as what had been practised by the previous administration.

The programme will be carried out with Jawi instead so that the distribution of cattle to all mosques and suraus will be done fairly with no political alliance.
