Defence Ministry says Hishammuddin's escort services ceased after GE14

KUALA LUMPUR: The escort services provided for former defence minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein were stopped immediately after the 14th General Election (GE14).

In a statement relased today, the Defence Ministry said action would be taken against any serving military personnel found to be carrying out duties for those who have no right or link based on the current regulations.

The statement was issued following reports that two Navy special operations force (Paskal) officers and a commando were still serving as escorts to Hishammuddin, who was no longer holding the portfolio following Barisan Nasional’s defeat in the May 9 polls.

It was reported that the services of the two officers will end in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

It was also claimed that the three were drawing salaries from ATM as well as from Hishammuddin.

Hishammuddin later said he had offered the trio employment but they must resign from ATM with immediate effect if they accepted the offer. - BERNAMA
