Fattah Amin's dad among Seri Setia early voters

SHAH ALAM: Popular actor Fattah Amin’s father was among the early voters who turned up to cast his ballot for the Seri Setia by-election.

Corporal Mohd Amin Musa, 51, who works in police’s the Strategic Resources and Technology Department in the weapons store at TTDI Jaya here cast his vote at 8.30am today.

The policeman, who has served in the force for 32 years said that this was the first time he cast his vote in a by-election.

“I voted in the Petaling Jaya before this. But this is the first time I’m doing it here (in Seri Setia).”

“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. I came in the morning and I am doing my duty as a Malaysian,” said Amin.

There were 2,770 early voters including 173 police officers and personnel who voted in Seri Setia yesterday.

Early voting ended at 5pm with an estimated 77 voter turnout.

The Pakatan Harapan candidate Halimey Abu Bakar is locking horns with Pas candidate Dr Halimah Ali in the by-election set for Sept 8.

The state seat fell vacant after assemblyman and Selangor executive councillor Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin passed away on Aug 2 after a battle with cancer.

Shaharuddin won the seat with a majority of 19,372 ballots. He defeated BN candidate, Yusoff M Haniff, Pas’ Mohd Ghazali Daud and S. Vigneswaran who contested on an independent ticket.
