GERIK: A lorry driver and his attendant were killed after their vehicle skidded and plunged into a 50-metre deep ravine at Kilometre 15.3 Jalan Pengkalan Hulu-Gerik here today.
Pengkalan Hulu district police chief Deputy Superintendent Raduan Mohamad said the crash occurred at about 9.15am as the lorry was descending a hill slope.
The driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the road divider before plunging into the ravine, he said in a statement here today.
He identified the deceased as lorry driver Sharul Anuar Abdul Hamid, 46, and his attendant, Mohd Ikhmal Sharul Anuar, 20, both from Kuala Kedah, Kedah.
Both died on the spot and the bodies were sent to Gerik Hospital for post-mortem. – Bernama
