Stroke-stricken journo Roy Goh still in high spirits

KOTA KINABALU: Although suffering a stroke on July 10 which made it difficult to move his right hand and right leg, veteran journalist Roy Anthony Goh is still his cheerful self.

Goh, 48, told Bernama Sabah staff who visited him today that he would “fight with everything he had to recover” and was impatient to get back to work but in a more suitable capacity (less running around).

“Down the road, I can still contribute writings or reports or train young journalists the ropes,” he said when met at his younger sister’s house here .

The Bernama Sabah team led by bureau chief Nashir Mansor called on him to hand over a contribution from the National Press Club, on behalf of NPC president Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, who is also Bernama Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Domestic News Service).

He was very thankful for the gesture.

Goh, started his journalism career with the Borneo Mail in 1993 and had served as correspondent for national newspaper The Sun before returning to Sabah to join The Borneo Post.

Thereafter, he served the New Straits Times for 14 years with the last position he held being editor at the NST’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. - Bernama
