Armed Forces to apply for permanent camp for 13th Brigade in Felda Sahabat

LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will submit an application to the Defence Ministry and the government for approval to build a permanent camp for the 13th Brigade at Felda Sahabat, Tungku near here.

Armed Forces Chief, ​​​​​​​General Tan Sri Zulkifli Zainal Abidin said the matter represented a long-term plan of the MAF to locate the base for the 13th ​​​​​​​Brigade (ESSCom) Cenderawasih Camp which now used the old college at Felda Sahabat.

“There is already a plan to locate the 13th Brigade, as the camp is now occupying a temporary location,”he said when approached by reporters at the 13th Brigade headquarters (ESSCom), Cenderawasih Camp, near here today.

Zulkifli was accompanying Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu who was making a two-day official working visit to the operations area around Tawau, Semporna and Lahad Datu beginning yesterday.

Meanwhile, he said the armed forces representative namely the 450 Operational Force chief would give advice to the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal if necessary concerning the need to transfer part of the military assets and personnel.

Zulkifli made the comment on the proposal by the state government to transfer part of the security assets and personnel from the Lok Kawi Camp to the threatened areas in the Sabah East Coast. - Bernama
