Outgoing Pahang police chief shed tears during emotional farewell

KUANTAN: Outgoing Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Rosli Ab Rahman wiped away tears as he read his farewell speech at the state police contingent headquarters here today.

Rosli, who has been appointed as the Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) director, said since he started serving in Pahang on Sept 15 last year, he developed a strong bond with other officers and personnel.

“Personally, I am happy to serve in Pahang due to the high commitment displayed by the police officers and other staff while on duty.

The department also enjoyed a good relationship with the other government agencies and other departments.

“The strong ties had contributed to several achievements which include reducing the crime index by 293 cases between January and September this year.

Violent crimes cases registered a 119 drop with a total of 540 cases registered between January and September last year compared to 421 during the corresponding period this year.

“The property crime index also showed a decline, from 2,365 cases between January and September last year to 2,191 this year while 651 of the 846 cases recorded by the commercial crime department have been solved between January and September this year,” he said in his speech.

Rosli will be replaced by Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department(investigation/legal) deputy director Datuk Mohd Zakaria Ahmad.

The handing over of duty was witnessed by Bukit Aman Narcotics Department director Datuk Seri Mohamed Salleh at the Pahang police contingent headquarters here.

Meanwhile Mohd Zakaria thanked the police department for choosing him to lead the Pahang police contingent and vowed to continue all the good efforts in the department which include reducing bureaucracy.
