Hamzah appointed Penang police chief in reshuffle

GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (Operations) deputy director Datuk Hamzah Ahmad has been named as the new Penang police chief.

He takes over from Datuk Khaw Kok Chin, who has since been promoted to Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director.

Bukit Aman secretary Deputy Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad, in a statement today, also announced the promotion of Police Anti-Money Laundering Criminal Investigation Division head Datuk Mohammed Hasbullah Ali from Deputy Commissioner of Police to Commissioner of Police.

Also promoted was Bukit Aman Special Branch E6 assistant director Datuk Dr Lim Joo Soon as Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) deputy director (cyber crime) with the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The new appointments take effect on May 13.
