MyPPP wants MACC to investigate Kayveas' claim [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: People's Progressive Party (MyPPP) urged the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate an allegation by Tan Sri M. Kayveas that RM36 million was given to the party this year.

MyPPP spokesperson Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said an investigation must be carried out immediately because Kayveas also claimed that the money received has connection with funds from beleaguered 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Loga Bala also urged Kayveas to reveal the names of the six former MyPPP members alleged to have taken the money.

He said the actual amount of the money that was received must be revealed as members of the party deserve to know the truth.

"The council members of the party and I have lodged a report to the graft busters on Kayveas' statement that MyPPP received RM36 million connected to 1MDB.

"A holistic investigation must be carried out to reveal the truth about this case. Coincidentally the MACC is also investigating the 1MDB issue," he told reporters after lodging a complaint with the commission, here, today.

Currently, the party is facing a power struggle between two factions where both acting president Datuk Seri Maglin D'Cruz and former president Kayveas have declared that they are the rightful party president.

On Oct 18, Kayveas was summoned by MACC for questioning in connection with funds allegedly linked to 1MDB which was transferred by Umno to MyPPP during the administration of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.

Apart from lodging a complaint with the MACC, Loga Bala who is also the party's deputy president, lodged nine police reports with regard to the allegation made by Kayveas.

"We want the authorities to investigate the source of the mentioned funds by Kayveas.

"We believe this is an act of desperation by Kayveas to shift the focus of MACC on him," he added.

He also said the MyPPP youth also lodged two complaints at the Dang Wangi police station on Oct 19, on the allegation which was spread on Whatsapp.

The viral message states that Kayveas abused powers in procuring assets inside and outside Malaysia.
