MACC investigating son of former PM [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: An individual, believed to be the child of a former prime minister, is currently under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), linked to business activities in the late 1990s.

It is understood that the investigation is focused on a company owned by the individual which had allegedly acquired a subsidiary of a government-linked company (GLC).

Berita Harian was informed that the MACC had summoned the individual to declare all of their assets, whether within or outside the country.

Sources revealed that the individual had been called to the MACC headquarters to be served with a notice of asset declaration.

"The investigation requires the individual to declare all their assets, whether within or outside the country in writing," said the source to BH today.

Last month, MACC had already summoned the individual to record a statement regarding allegations of corruption and misappropriation.

BH is currently seeking confirmation from MACC officials regarding the investigation.
