PUTRAJAYA: The special payment of RM500 for civil servants grade 54 and below as what has been tabled in the 2019 budget will be disbursed in December, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
“This is the first time we pay bonus early. Before this, it was paid the following year.
”Granted there is no such allocation under the 2018 budget (for it), but we will find other resources hopefully through revenue collected under the Sales and Services Tax (SST). There is a little bit of extra for us to make the payment this year.
“They will get the special payment in their December salary which will be paid before Dec 25,” he told reporters after attending a-get-together with Customs Department staff held in conjunction with its 2018 Deepavali celebration.
The government has tabled the 2019 budget, proposing a special payment of RM500 to civil servants grade 54 and below as a token of appreciation for their efforts and dedications in executing their duties.
Lim also stressed on the need for Finance Ministry staff to uphold the ministry’s performance and also to safeguard what had been listed in the Federal Constitution.
“Those in the Finance Ministry must focus on the concept of nationhood, the rakyat and the economy as what has been stipulated in the Federal Constitution. We must be loyal in executing what has been listed in the Federal Constitution.
“We must ensure that the rakyat will have faith that tomorrow will be a better day for them, which includes securing better jobs and higher salaries. In other words, they have more money to spend,” he said.
