KPI set for Sabah ministries to ensure people remain confident with new government

KOTA KINABALU: The state government wants all ministries to achieve the Key Performance Index (KPI) set for them to ensure the people remain confident with the existing government.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said KPI was set for all ministries under the state government to allow planning to be implemented effectively within a specified time frame.

“We need to make drastic changes and that’s why I have set the KPI. I will monitor all the ministries at end of year or at certain timeframe.

“This is important to ensure each ministry has its direction, and service to the people is well implemented because at the end of the day, the rakyat will be the one assessing (the government),” he told reporters after launching a seminar on Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) here today.

Earlier in his speech, Shafie hoped the GRP would bring the gap of regulating management system in Sabah closer.

This, he said, was to ensure regulations that burden the people and business community, as well as prevent innovation and competition, could be avoided.

“This effort will put Sabah at par with countries that practice such policy and meet the GRP criteria of international level.

“I also hope this GRP initiative will help enhance the transparency and credibility of regulations and law making as well as create better business environment in the state,” he said.
