Cameron Highlands candidate should represent PH and not any individual party, says Azmin

SERDANG: The Cameron Highlands parliamentary by-election should have a candidate who represents the coalition Pakatan Harapan (PH) and not any individual party, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Mohamed Azmin, however, said naming of the candidate would be discussed in the party’s Presidential Council later.

"We want the candidate to contest for PH and not as representative of any party.

"Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has reiterated numerous times that we have to act collectively as PH.

"I am confident that any decisions can be made through consensus to ensure that Cameron Highlands will belong to the people and the PH," he said.

He said this after visiting the Agro International Agriculture, Horticulture and Tourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2018 at the Malaysian Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS) here today.

Earlier, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced the party would be nominate a candidate to represent PH in the by election.
