Youth and Sports Ministry ready to work with Audit Dept

PUTRAJAYA: The Youth and Sports Ministry is ready to cooperate with the Audit Department and stresses that public safety aspect has always been its top priority.

It said this in response to a call, urging the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to investigate the Youth and Sports Ministry as well as the Transport Ministry based on the Auditor-General’s Report 2017 Series 2.

The called was made by Auditor General Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad, saying there were several matters and punitive issues which needed to be addressed regarding the reports involving the two ministries.

In this respect, the Youth and Sports Ministry said proposed corrective measures would be undertaken.

“Relating to the Kuala Lumpur Sports City (KLSC), Bukit Jalil, the ministry wants to stress that safety aspect in using the facilities has always been our priority.

“The ministry will not compromise with any quarters who fail to abide by existing safety procedures.

“This is to ensure that the public and customers will be able to use the facilities in safe manner and ensure the implementation of any event can be done smoothly,” said the ministry in a statement today.

On the need to temporarily close KLSC which also included the Bukit Jalil National Sports Stadium, it said the ministry and the Audit General’s Office had agreed that KLSC was in good and safe condition to host any event or activity.

“All stadium and physical amenities at KLSC have received Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC), which means it has been built completely and safe to be used.”

The ministry cited several events that had been successfully held at KLSC, including the Kuala Lumpur Major 2018 and the venue for the AFF Suzuki 2018 matches.
