Refueling disaster leads to mass breakdown along Sungai Besi Highway

SERDANG: Almost 30 vehicles were found stranded near KM7 of the Sungai Besi Highway following what appears to be a mass breakdown.

It is believed that this happened after the drivers of these vehicles had refueled at the Petronas Solaris Besraya station situated along the highway.

The vehicles were said to have encountered engine problems and died suddenly.

The incident went viral on social media with some speculating the fuel in the tank at Petronas had gotten mixed up with either Diesel or water.

The petrol station involved was quick to react to the incident and immediately offered assistance to those involved.

Meanwhile, Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) in a statement said the petrol station involved is now temporarily closed.

“PDB regrets to inform that approximately 20 cars were affected after fueling at the Petronas Station Solaris Besraya this morning.

“Our initial assessment indicates that this is due to mishandling that happened at this particular station. Petronas Solaris Besraya is now temporarily closed as we continue our investigations,” PDB said in a statement.

It said they had contacted those affected and assured that other Petronas stations are not affected.

“We take this matter seriously and sincerely apologise to all our customers for the inconveniences this have caused.

“We are already in contact with the affected customers, taking the necessary measures and will compensate them accordingly," the statement read.

PDB further affirmed they took full responsibility of the matter.
