Two killed, child injured in head-on collision in Dungun [NSTTV]

DUNGUN: Two people were killed and a child injured in a collision between two cars at Km12.3 of Jalan Paka-Bandar Al Muktaffi Billah Shah AMBS near Ketengah Jaya, here, today.

The 8.30am accident claimed the lives of Proton Satria driver Muhamad Hisyam Alimun, 26; and Honda Civic driver Fazroazahar Rahim, 34. Both died at the scene of the crash.

The remains of both men were taken to the Dungun Hospital’s Forensic Unit for post-mortems.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Hisyam’s nephew, Airill Sarojini, 9, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the Proton Satria, suffered injuries to the face and was rushed to the Ketengah Jaya Health Clinic for treatment.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the Proton Satria, which was from Ketengah Jaya, skidded to the right and entered the opposite lane, before crashing head-on with the Honda Civic.

Head of Dungun’s Fire and Rescue Department Mohd Rezuan Adnan said they received an emergency call on the accident at 8.47am, and rushed a team of eight personnel to the scene.

He said it took rescuers 10 minutes to remove both occupants of the Proton Satria.

The body of Fazroazahar, meanwhile, had been extricated from the Honda Civic by members of the public.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” said Dungun police chief Superintendent Baharudin Abdullah when contacted by NSTP.
