Father wants Adib's murder trial to be sped up

ALOR SETAR: The father of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who died during a riot in November last year, hope the trial of his son's murder would start soon.

Mohd Kassim Abdul Hamid, 63, said this would enable the family to accept the outcome, and the party responsible for his death be brought to justice.

"I hope the trial would proceed soon, so that justice is served.

"I do not know much about the inquest into his death, but I am hoping for a speedy trial," he said when met at the handover of donation at the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department's (JBPM) headquarters here today.

At the ceremony, Mohd Kassim and his wife, Asma Aziz, 52, and their two daughters received a donation from Mohd Adib Wira Merah Fund which was handed over by acting director of Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Mohd Zahar Abdullah.

They also received a RM2,500 donation from the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) and RM500 from businessman Datuk Che Rozmey Che Din.

Mohd Kassim said his family was grateful to the Kedah JBPM and all who contributed.

Meanwhile, Mohd Zahar said the Mohd Adib Wira Merah Fund was still active and the public can contribute at any of 19 Fire and Rescue centres in Kedah.
