Woman dies in toll booth crash

JOHOR BARU: A 28-year-old woman died after crashing her car into the pillar of a toll booth at Km 8 of the North–South Expressway here this morning.

Johor Baru North district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Taib Ahmad said the victim, Tan Kuok Kee, died on the spot in the 3am incident.

He said initial investigations revealed that the victim, who was travelling north, lost control of her vehicle before crashing it at the Kempas Toll Plaza.

He said the victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, despite first responders providing first aid.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
