Tuaran: IT was game over for twelve men who were betting on cockfighting in Kampung Lapasan, here, yesterday.
The men aged 28 to 69 were arrested by a team of police from Tuaran District Police Headquarters (IPD) in a raid at 3.30pm.
Tuaran District Police Chief Dzulbaharin Ismail said during the raid, a group of men was gathering at a cockfighting arena, and fled after sensing police presence.
"Police arrested 12 men and seized 10 cocks, believed to be used for gambling.
"They also seized four wire cages, two stopwatch units and RM12,907 in cash," he said when met.
Dzulbaharin said those detained were brought to Tuaran IPD for further investigation.
"Initial investigations revealed that all those detained are from this district, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud.
"The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Animal Welfare Enactment 2015," he said.
