CHUKAI: A father and his six-year-old son were in critical condition after they were found unconscious inside a car at Kemaman Hospital parking lot.
Mohd Amiroshelmi Jusoh, 30, and his son Putera Rafiudin, from Bandar Kerteh, were found in the car, a Proton Gen2, at about 12.30pm today.
The man’s friend, Mohd Hazmin Jusoh, said he had called Mohd Amiroshelmi earlier but the calls went unanswered.
“I decided to check on him as I felt that he might be at the hospital to visit his wife and his youngest child who’s warded there,” said Mohd Hazmin, adding that he was shocked to find the two lying unconscious inside their car.
Mohd Hazmin tried to wake them up but received no response, prompting him to smash the car window with a rock.
“I then grabbed the child and rushed him to the emergency unit while Mohd Amiroshelmi was brought in by hospital personnel.
“They’re still receiving treatment and I hope they’re both OK,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kemaman police chief Superintendent Mohd Said Ibrahim confirmed to have received a report on the incident and said the victims were reported to be in critical condition.
“We are investigating the cause of the incident, whether the two victims suffered carbon monoxide poisoning or suffocated due to the fact that they were found in a vehicle with its windows up,” said Mohd Said.
