Report if you spot unauthorised Quran online, Muhyiddin tells Muslims

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday urged Muslims in the country to report to the authorities if they come across copies of unauthorised Quran being sold online.

He said it was important to ensure that no Quran without the Ministry’s approval stamp is released to the market, adding that continuous enforcement would be done by the Ministry.

"We view this matter seriously because we do not want any irregularities. Hence, Muslims must be careful not to use the unauthorised Quran.” he was quoted by Bernama as saying.

It was reported that 5,050 copies of the Quran, worth RM502,800, were seized by the Ministry's Selangor branch Enforcement and Control Division, in a raid at the North Port Free Zone in Klang on Monday.

Its director Feisal Mohamed Ali had said the copies of the Quran, which included the Al-Mumayyaz, Al-Hadi, An-Nur and Al-Thayib, were believed to have been brought from Indonesia for the local market and to be sold online.

Checks revealed that the eight-inch Quran was being sold at RM80 each while an A4-size Quran at RM120 per copy.

The Home Ministry only approves the Quran with Uthmani script that has special stamp in Jawi which reads ‘Lembaga Pengawalan dan Pelesenan Pencetakan Al-Quran memperakui bahawa ayat-ayat Al-Quran yang terkandung dalam teks ini adalah betul’ as well as a QR code and hologram.
