Woman Tok Batin committed to giving best service to community

SEMENYIH: Being the village head is not an easy task, but for Uni Sudah, being the only woman ‘Tok Batin’ in the Orang Asli community has not hampered her commitment to serve the villagers.

“It has been more than five years since I became the village head (Tok Batin) of Kampung Kachau Dalam and I am happy to help the villagers who I consider as family members.

“Most complaints regarding the identity card and school documentation for children have been resolved,” the mother of three told Bernama here today.

Kampung Kachau Dalam is a home for 42 families.

There are 10 Orang Asli villages in Semenyih.

The other villages are Kampung Sungai Lui, Kampung Broga, Kampung Kachau Luar, Kampung Sungai Lalang, Kampung Donglai Baru, Kampung Sungai Congkak, Kampung Kuala Pangson, Kampung Sungai Gabai and Kampung Genting Peras.

Uni said she would go from house to house using a motorcycle to meet the villagers.

“That way, I will know what kind of problems they are facing,” said the 39-year-old Temuan woman.

She said she would always help other village heads in organising activities involving the Orang Asli community in Hulu Langat. - Bernama
