RON97 up 3 sen, RON95 and diesel unchanged

PUTRAJAYA: The Finance Ministry today announced that RON97 petrol will cost three sen more, at RM2.46 per litre, from midnight to March 15.

However, the ministry said RON95 petrol and diesel prices will remain the same at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre respectively.

Based on the new Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), the ministry, in a statement, said RON95 and diesel should have been priced at RM2.16 and RM2.38 per litre respectively.

“But they have been capped at RM2.08 and RM2.18 per litre respectively, following the Cabinet’s decision to reduce the people’s financial burden.

“The Pakatan Harapan government is committed in implementing the retail price stabilisation policy for petroleum to benefit the people.” the statement added.

The weekly fuel price mechanism, which is aimed at protecting the Bottom40 (B40) group, will continue until the targeted petrol subsidy system is implemented in the second quarter of this year.
