Python vs cats: APM captures reptile, saves two felines

LIPIS: A six-metre long python wrapped itself around a cat cage in Kampung Lubuk Kulit, here, yesterday, killing two cats.

However quick action by officers from the Civil Defence Force (APM) saved the lives of two other cats.

The APM received a distress call at about 7.30am and five officers were immediately deployed to the scene.

District APM assistant officer Azizah Hussain said they managed to capture the python, weighing some 100 kilogrammes.

"As soon as we arrived at the villager's house, we saw that the snake had wrapped itself around a cat cage and checks found that two cats were already dead.

"We took 14 minutes to capture the python and managed to rescue two other cats," Azizah said, adding that the reptile was handed over to the district's Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (Perhilitan) for further action.
