Firefighters capture 4m-long python

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: A nearly 4m-long python discovered by villagers at Batu 6, Jalan Kodiang, in the Limau Bali Project area here, was captured by firefighters today after it had just finished swallowing a goat.

Bukit Kayu Hitam Fire and Rescue station chief Zulkifli Manaf said they received a call regarding the snake at 2.48pm.

He added that a team of nine firefighters from the station were deployed to the scene to assist in capturing the reptile.

"Upon arrival, we found the python still at the scene, full after having just swallowed a goat. Our team used a lasso and successfully captured the creature. The operation was fully completed by 3.32pm."

Zulkifli added that the current hot spell in the area had caused the reptile to enter the village seeking food and shelter.

He urged members of the public who encounter such reptiles to contact their department for assistance in capturing them, as they may react aggressively towards any attempts to capture them.
