MARAN: Five people were killed, including a young boy in an accident involving three vehicles at Mile 13, Jalan Kuantan-Temerloh, near Maran, this afternoon.
It was learnt that the 2.48pm crash involved a Perodua MyVi, a Proton Iswara and a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Nor Hisham Mohammad said a fire engine, with an officer and five firefighters from Maran, was deployed to the area after the department received a distress call.
"Our team had to used a cutter tool to extricate two of the victims out of the damaged vehicles.
"Based on our initial report, five victims were confirmed dead at the scene while three injured victims in the crash, were sent to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital for treatment.
"The remains of the crash victims have been sent to Jengka Hospital for post mortem."
Nor Hisham said the authorities have yet to identify the victims and were still investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.
