KUALA LUMPUR: An on-duty traffic police officer sustained leg injuries when he was rammed by a car at Jalan Raja Laut this morning.

Constable Aniq Mohd Kasim, 22, was directing the traffic when a Mercedes-Benz E200 car ploughed into him at 8.11am.

City Traffic Enforcement Investigation Department chief assistant commissioner Zulkefly Yahya said the driver, a 25-year-old private college student, has been detained following the incident.

“Initial investigations showed that the car was heading towards Jalan Hishamuddin from Jalan Raja Laut, before it hit the victim.

“The victim sustained leg injuries and is being treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
