Banting boys bully senior citizen, clip goes viral [NSTTV]

BANTING: A senior citizen who was bullied by a group of teenagers recently says he has forgiven them and does not wish for anymore fuss over the matter.

Mohd Mudakir Abdul Wahid, 59, who suffers from a mental condition, said he bore no grudge towards the group of teenagers over the incident which took place on May 7.

A clip of what transpired has since gone viral on social media.

Explaining, Mohd Mudakir said he only wanted to admonish them for hanging around at a parking lot which was close to a football field in the village.

"I did not expect what happened would spread (became viral) and was shocked when the five teenagers came to my house with their family members yesterday...

"The teenagers apologised and I forgive them," he said when met, here, today.

The former lorry driver said it was normal for him to ride his motorcycle around the neighbourhood and advise teenagers seen loitering to engage in more fruitful activities, especially performing prayers.

"Maybe it is because they are just kids, I know their parents. I do not want to make this issue any bigger than it already is. Perhaps they just wanted to have fun, but it was a little overboard," Mohd Mudakir said, adding he was not planning on lodging a police report.

Mohd Mudakir's brother, Hairuzaman, 47, said their family was disappointed with what happened and hoped the incident would not repeat.

"My brother developed mental issues after an accident while riding his motorcycle to his workplace in Jalan Pelabuhan Klang in December 1985.

"All he wanted to do was advise and I did not expect the incident would become viral. We forgive the teenagers and hope this serves as a lesson to them," he said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Azizan Tukiman said they have not received a report over what happened from members of the public.

"It is understood that the case was settled amicably," he said.

"Based on checks, we found that the senior citizen suffers from a mental condition and the teenagers' motive was to have fun. However, their action and behaviour was a little overboard against an elderly man.

"If a police report is lodged, police will not hesitate to take appropriate action," he said when contacted.
