Police to increase patrols at residential areas for Hari Raya Aidilfitri

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will increase its patrols at residential areas during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays next week.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador said district police chiefs (OCPD) had already been directed to intensify their patrols.

"The OCPDs, through their state police chiefs, have been directed to mobilise as many personnel as possible to patrol at residential areas to prevent break-ins or any untoward incidents."

He told reporters this after presenting Hari Raya cookies at the Senior Officers Mess at Bukit Aman here today.

"This is in appreciation of those who will be on duty at our borders and waters, and especially those on duty overseas under the United Nations banner during Hari Raya, with hopes that this will cheer them up," he said.

Abdul Hamid said only 10 per cent of the police force were allowed to go on holiday, with all traffic personnel continuing their responsibilities without leave.
