Azmin gives statement to police over sex videos

PUTRAJAYA: Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has given his statement to the police on Monday over the viral sex videos which implicated him as one of the two men featured in the clips.

His lawyer N. Surendran confirmed this today in a statement.

Surendran said this was related to the investigation resulting from the police report lodged by Azmin's political secretary who had called for a probe into the circulation of the videos.

"The videos are a slanderous and politically motivated attack upon him.

"The minister's office had been contacted by the police on Sunday (June 16) to record his statement as part of the investigation.

"Prioritising the matter, yesterday (June 17), Azmin gave his statement to the police to assist them in their investigations," said the lawyer.

Surendran added that there were obvious signs of an organised and systematic attempt to discredit and bring down the minister with the attack.

"The perpetrators had access to leaked personal data of party members, sophisticated means and a clear political agenda.

"We trust the police will get to the bottom of this soon, and identify and take action against the culprits according to the law," he said.

Last week, clips of a raunchy video involving two men have gone viral, followed by a confession by Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz who had admitted he was one of the men in the said video.

Haziq, who is the Santubong PKR Youth chief, had claimed that the other person was Azmin.

He was reported to have been arrested by the police at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on June 14, as he was about to depart for Manila and was released the next day on police bail.
