#NSTViral Nowhere to hide, cops on the hunt for convenience store menace

NILAI: Police are looking for a teenager who allegedly messed with some food items on purpose at a convenience store in a shopping mall, here.

The incident which was recorded and found its way onto social media has led to many Netizens expressing their anger.

In the one minute and 10 seconds video, a male individual, believed to be a teenager, was seen deliberately damaging food items and a bottled drink.

The scene was recorded by what is believed to be his friend, another male individual, who could be heard repeatedly calling his friend's action as "bodoh" (stupid) accompanied by sounds of laughter.

Nilai district police chief Supt Mohd Marzukee Besar said they received a report from the store manager at about 11.20pm yesterday.

Prior to that, at about 10pm, the manager saw the video which had already gone viral.

"The manager then looked at the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage and realised the incident took place at the convenience store where he works.

"Checks found that the damages totaled to about RM30," he said.

Mohd Marzukee added that police were tracing the suspect and they have already obtained several information pertaining to the clip.

The case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.

Meanwhile, a teenager who goes by the handle @luqbubbles on Instagram claimed he was the person in the viral video and issued an apology.

He also claimed he would pay for the damages he caused.
