KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah state government will discuss solutions with state Attorney-General on the RM31 million suspended skybridge project here.
Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Arifin Asgali said the state government was in discussions with the legal fraternity about the project.
"Let them make a lot of noise (complaints), we prefer to be judged based on our performance and what we could deliver.
"But, give us two to three months to find solutions," he said, referring to reports by local opposition parties, in which they claiming that the state government was not doing anything about the project.
Arifin, who is in charge of City Hall Affairs, was speaking after the launching of KK Sentral terminal here.
It was reported that the skybridge, which connects major shopping malls and commercial centres in the area, has achieved 95 per cent completion.
Since the air-conditioned skybridge was completed nearly a year ago, it has yet to be opened due to several factors including developer's insolvency.
The developer was reported to receive only 35 per cent of the contract sum, leaving a balance of about RM20 million.
Earlier during the launching, City Hall mayor Datuk Nordin Siman said that the newly opened KK Sentral offers express bus services to Beaufort, Sipitang, Menumbok, Lawas and Brunei.
Completed in 2017, the two-block RM54 million commercial terminal is one of the four integrated bus terminals in the state capital.
The other three are Kepayan Integrated Terminal for southbound destinations, Inanam Integrated Terminal (northbound) and Penampang Integrated Terminal (eastbound).
Those terminals were proposed in line with Rapid Bus transit project to create an efficient and safe public transportation system in the city.
The building will also provide business opportunities for the locals.
"KK Sentral is opened especially for the convenience and to give the best services for city folks," he added.
