Half-naked dance fiesta in Pulau Perhentian?

KUALA TERENGGANU: The police and Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) have been asked to investigate an allegation of a half-naked dance fiesta at a chalet in Pulau Perhentian, Besut.

State Tourism, Culture and Information Technology committee chairman Ariffin Deraman said the owner of the chalet could face action if he or she was found to be responsible for organising the fiesta which went viral on social media since Sunday.

"For now, we have only received photographs and recordings of the half-naked dance fiesta through social media after it went viral, but before action can be taken, detailed investigation is needed to determine the authenticity of the fiesta.

"If it is true and it is proven that a half-naked dance fiesta had taken place involving foreign tourists, we will take action according to the law against the chalet owner who is responsible for the programme," he said when contacted today.

Ariffin was commenting on photographs and two video recordings of 30 seconds and nine seconds each, uploaded on social media, showing a group of men and women, appearing to be half-naked dancing at a chalet on the island.

Ariffin said the chalet could have its license revoked by local authorities if it was found they had organised such an event.

"We cannot act based on the video recordings shared on social media alone, we will investigate this matter fully which will include getting statements from the chalet owner said to have been the one responsible in organising the fiesta," he said.
