KUALA LUMPUR: A Twitter user operating an account under the name "Zikri Armstrong" who alleged that French-Irish teenager Nora Anne Quoirin was raped by Orang Asli was charged at the Magistrate's Court, here, today.
Muhammad Zikri Ibrahim, pleaded not guilty when he was charged of intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.
The charge was read to him before Magistrate Noorasyikin Sahat.
Clad in a blue shirt and black pants, Muhammad Zikri looked calm when he was ushered into the dock.
His father Datuk Ibrahim Osman, a councilor in the Alor Gajah Municipal Council was also present during the proceeding’s today.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was alleged to have committed the offence using his Twitter account under the handle name of "Zikri Armstrong" at 8.30pm on Aug 14.
The offence falls under Section 504 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine or both.
Deputy public prosecutor Julia Ibrahim asked the court to impose RM10,000 bail against the accused.
Counsel Muhmmad Syazwan Mohd Salleh pleaded for minimum bail stating that his client is about to get married in December.
"His father is here and ready to be his bailor," he said.
The court set RM6,000 bail with one surety and fixed Sept 19 for mention.
Nora Anne's remains were found 10 days after she disappeared from a resort she was staying at with her family in Negri Sembilan.
She was reported missing on Aug 4, after which a massive search and rescue operation was launched to find her.
Post-mortem results on her remains found that no foul play was involved and that the teenager had died of starvation.

After a 12-hour post-mortem last Wednesday, Mohamad announced on Thursday that no foul play was found in the death of Nora Anne.
The autopsy results showed that she died of starvation.
