System disruption at KLIA, klia2 causes snarl; passengers urged to arrive early

SEPANG: A systems disruption is currently hampering operations at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and klia2, here.

According to Bernama, a connection issue has affected several airport systems, including the Flight Information Display System (FIDS), check-in-counters, the Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), and WiFi availability.

In a statement today, airport operator Malaysia Airports said the disruption began on Wednesday night (Aug 21) and is in the midst of being rectified.

“All relevant airport staff have been deployed to assist passengers on the ground, as we expect the situation to continue throughout the day today,” it said.

Passengers are being advised to reach KLIA and klia2 at least four hours before their flight departure time, and to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight schedules.

“Since the disruption, our team has been working round the clock, not only to rectify the situation, but also to minimise the inconvenience caused to passengers,” it said.

“We will be issuing further updates on the situation either through our social media platforms or news releases.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Malaysia Airports said.
