Selangor man commits suicide after his Mercedes triggers fatal crash

KUALA SELANGOR: A man committed suicide after his car triggered a fatal accident at Jalan Tali Air, Sawah Sempadan, Tanjong Karang, early today.

In the 2.30am incident, the 66-year-old Mercedes Benz C200 driver suddenly stopped his vehicle in the middle of the road. It is not clear why he made this move, Berita Harian reported.

A Perodua Myvi behind him, driven by Muhammad Fadzli Muhammad Yusari, 40, was unable to avoid the stationary car in time, and collided into its rear.

The impact caused the Myvi to be flung into a roadside drain.

Muhammad Fadzli, who was en route from Rawang to Tanjong Karang, suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene.

Immediately following the collision, the senior citizen slit his throat using a sharp object which has yet to be identified. He died shortly after.

According to witnesses at the scene, the Mercedes driver had shown signs of confusion before he took his own life.

“The remains of both men were taken to the Tanjong Karang Hospital for post-mortems.

“An investigation is being carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” said Kuala Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Noor Janihan Nanyan.
