SERI ISKANDAR: State police are ready to assist in locating Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak to facilitate in investigations into an assault case in Selangor last Saturday.

Perak police chief Datuk Razarudin Husain said state police were all geared-up should the federal police require their assistance to look for the Perak PKR chairman.

“We will locate him should assistance be needed and we are willing to help.

“Inspector-General of Police (Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador) has come out with a statement and should they need our help in terms of information, intelligence, we will assist them,” he said after witnessing the handing over of duties from outgoing Perak Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zainal Abdullah to Superintendent Barudin Wariso here today.

Zainal has been promoted to assistant director of the federal police’s prosecution and legal division (D5).

On Monday, Hamid had urged Farhash to come forward to record his statement.

Farhash is alleged to have been involved in a brawl at Kompleks Sukan Arena All Stars in Taman Dagang Permai, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, at 9pm on Aug 31.

On another matter, Razarudin said an audio clip of a telephone conversation, purportedly between an individual introducing himself as an aide of state exco Abdul Yunus Jamhari and a police officer, had been sent to the police forensic unit to determine its authenticity.

The one-minute, 14-second audio recording has gone viral on social media. The recording is allegedly that of the “aide” trying to negotiate with police to stop them investigating his boss.

The man also told the “officer” that he had kautim (settled) the case with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Razarudin said the case was still under investigation and police had yet to determine the identity of the person in the recording.

It was reported that Yunus, the assemblyman of Kuala Kurau, had allegedly leaked the minutes of the state exco meeting to solicit commissions from two agriculture companies in relation to their land applications.

The report, accusing Yunus of leaking the minutes, was lodged by Parit Buntar PKR committee member Beh Yong Kean on July 13.
